I am happy to learn that the launch of another website of the UMWS Patna and the Mobile app. The entire team of Usha Martin World School, Patna gets the credit for this and the Principal needs special mention for leading the team.
A lot has been said about education and is still being said, but I think it will ever be impossible to confine it within the rigid boundaries of a perfect definition. I personally believe that education is a liberating and life-giving touch of light – something that unlocks our potentials and helps us become better at all aspects of our lives. Education is not just about ‘learning’ inside classrooms and scoring well in examinations; it is also about being a better person at all levels – physical, moral, emotional, social and spiritual.
That is why I feel privileged to be associated with the Usha Martin World School, Patna, where emphasis is put to make learning real, to establish a connect between the topic and the real lives of our children. Though this practise is being advocated in many a policy and seminar all over the world, I know UMWS Patna is one of the rare places where the theory really percolates into the classrooms.
The child’s mind is naturally curious and we just need to utilize this trait to train them in important information and problem solving skills and allow their latent talents to be polished in an environment of encouragement and patience. And above all to let them become more creative and flexible because it is this unique aspect that keeps us ahead of machines and computers.
Our children will all grow to live in a world more complex and fast-changing. An education that empowers them to change themselves with the altering demands, often at a short notice, is a better education than one that is not. Often the opportunities for learning outside the classroom are greater, through sports, games and other activities like dramatics, debates, quizzes, excursions and community service. All play an important role in developing character and citizenship. We at Usha Martin World School, Patna attach lot of importance to broad-base the education of our children.
Quality in education consists of happy teachers, a good student- teacher ratio, modern equipment and adequate space and classroom facilities. Quality in education leads to quality in our lives.We at Usha Martin World School believe that a school should be a center for excellence and that is what we strive for.
Martins - the school app, has being created to reach the parents and the students, when they are most comfortable and can spare time to get updated about the school activities and also put in their feedback or queries. That means the dream of Digital India is being replicated here to reap the benefits for the welfare of the students community. In the present day and time “21st century skills” are all the rage. Educators, business leaders and educated officials all around the world are united on the idea that a student must have a specific skill set to be successful in today's economy. Hence, since we live in such revolutionary times that require students to have completely contemporary and different skills, it is important to make a choice between teaching facts and teaching how to approach these facts. The need of the hour however is to focus on the latter and aim at developing skills such as communication, collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving among others to provide education of a global standard. Therefore, it is compulsory for education to be a combination of theoretical and practical knowledge in today's age as applied skills and competencies can be best taught in the context of a dynamic academic curriculum.
For success in their professional and personal lives, students must learn how to apply what they learn in classrooms to meet real world challenges. This can be fostered by a conducive learning environment where students are better equipped to deal, communicate, understand and help the rest of the world.
We, at usha martin school, are out to achieve this very objective of a holistic growth and development of our students.
